2020 Old Forester 150th Batch 1 125.6°
Nose: A rich ebullient nose with a backdrop of spiciness that generates a slight numbing impact on the nose. The sugar reminds me of the dark rock candy, the yellow type. This nose seems to offer more characteristic than the batch 3.
Palate: A nice sweet front with a mixture of some floral notes - reminds me of a good wheater with notes of four roses. Airy and evanescence… Bright colors, like some ethereal lights shining amid some clouds or between the trees in a park. Slight citrus in the mid-palate with caramelized sugary characteristics that remind me of a younger Larue. This item warms you quite well with an immense mouth feel that gives the numbing impact as it enters the crevices of the mouth. And the finish seems to linger on and on.
Verdict: Better than expected. It would go really well in a good wheater flight – looking forward to trying this out when I’m “proofed.” Solid.
