2023 Parker’s Heritage Collection #17 10yr Rye Cask Strength | 128.8°)
Nose: Front grassiness with light spice. A delicate nose that offers a slight herbal fragrance. Of all things, I get traditional Vietnamese-style dumplings with the subtle smell of steamed dough. Palate: Candied front with a little bit of spice to complement the back palate. This offering tastes more like a bourbon than a rye. The midpalate has a nice complexity with a soft spice finish that lingers – making you long for it ever so slightly. At times, rye spice can be overwhelming on its own, but this expression seems to mingle the flavors well, leaving the spice to be playfully incorporated. It tastes a lot like a bourbon but a rye backdrop. Verdict: When I look at the bottle, the juice offers a darker hue – a sign of more flavor and complexity. My favorite rye expression out of Heaven Hill for a while.
